TRIP TO INDIA WITH SWAMI PUROHIT
We are very pleased to announce that, after a break of 2 years, this summer Swamiji will once again be taking students to India!
The trip will take place from August 10th to 27th in Tiruvannamalai, south India.
Price: 1,770.00 Euros/person
(Flights NOT included)
Accommodation will be in twin or double rooms.
We also have a limited number of single rooms. (Single room supplement: 200.00 Euros.)
Rooms will be assigned on a first come first served basis.
Flights:
We offer a free flight booking service for students who wish to travel with our group from Madrid to Chennai.
This year, due to the fact that only a limited number of airlines are currently flying to India, the flights are slightly more expensive than usual, with a return flight package costing approximately 1,600.00€. Those who booked flights for the cancelled trip in 2020 will be able to exchange their flights and pay the difference.
Before making a group booking with an airline and committing to payment of all the seats, we need to know how many people wish to book their flights with us. If this is your case, please let us know as soon as possible.
Students may also book their own flights, however in this case, transfers between Chennai airport and the accommodation in Tiruvannamalai will be charged separately unless the flights coincide with the timetables of the official group flights.
COVID 19 VACCINATIONS - IMPORTANT
At the time of writing (March 2022), the Indian government crurently requires ONE of the following in order to enter India:
1: Vaccination certificate showing that all 3 vaccinations have been administered correctly.
2: Negative PCR test carried out in the 48 hours before travel.
Students who are not vaccinated must also take a PCR test in India before being able to travel back to Spain.
NOTE:
It is important to note that these are the current requirements (March 2022). We cannot guarantee that changes will not be made before August and that by that date, for example, only fully vaccinated passengers may be allowed to enter the country. We do not take responsibility for any changes to Covid restrictions or travel or entry requirements that may be made by the Indian or Spanish governments.

WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT FROM THIS TRIP?
Colours, aromas of spices, exotic flavours and, above all, spirituality. India is the birthplace of yoga and meditation and now the place to let yourself be carried away in wonder. Do you need answers? Do you crave serenity? On this trip you will reach your desired balance between body and spirit. It will be an authentic voyage toward inner peace.
In a life full of chaos, stress and anxiety, we suggest emptying the mind, freeing the space occupied by banalities and open a door so that only what really matters may enter. Distance yourself from all the noise, “reconnect” with yourself and return with a different perspective, with a new way of being and living.
Our stay will be in Tiruvannamalai, one of the holiest cities in the state of Tamil Nadu, located in the south of India and at the foot of the majestic Arunachala hill. Roughly 800 metres high and with a pyramidal shape, the hill is considered a manifestation of Lord Shiva. Every full moon, thousands of pilgrims surround its base in a purification ritual as part of a magical ceremony known as Girivalam.
The Hindu temple of Arunachaleswarar, one of the most spectacular in all of India, stands here in honour to the god. Lying over 10 hectares of surface area and with 9 magnificent towers, it is among the greatest temples in the world in its category. Nearby, at any time of year it is possible to see worshippers and sadhus, spiritual men or “monks who follow the path of penitence and austerity in order to reach enlightenment”.
A profound energy that permeates the city of Tiru has led to the creation of numerous ashrams which every year attract huge crowds of people from around the world as a part of their spiritual journey. With Sri Swami Purohit, “Swamiji”, we will have the chance to make daily visits to the ashrams. The main ones are:
Sri Ramana Ashram
Also known as Sri Ramanasramam, it was home to Ramana Maharshi from 1922 until his death in 1950 at the age of 70.
Sri Ramana is considered one of the most prominent spiritual masters of India and one of the most well-known and influential Hindu clergymen of the 20th century. His teachings focused on the atma-vichara, or “self-inquiry” of the soul. In this method, the individual focuses his or her attention on the “I-thought”, with the aim of finding his or her origin.
“What we find in the life and teachings of Sri Ramana is the purest essence of India…” “…they are not only important for the Hindu, but for the westerner as well. They are of great human interest, but are also a message of warning directed at humanity that risks losing itself in the chaos of its unconscious and its lack of control”. Carl Gustav Jung, Swiss psychiatrist and psychoanalyst.
Seshadri Swamigal Ashram
Dedicated to Sri Seshadri Swamigal, or the “Saint with a golden hand”, in 2012, this ashram is located close to the Sri Ramanasramam.
At 19, Seshadri met Sri Balaji Swamigal, a saint from northern India who instructed him. He travelled to various places in Tamil Nadu before ending up in Tiruvannamalai where he remained for 40 years. He dedicated his life and teachings to emphasizing the glory of Arunachala. When Ramana Maharshi arrived in Tiruvannamalai seven years later, Seshadri Swamigal took care of him, protected him and revealed him to the world as a saint. He died in 1929.
Yogi Ram Surath Kumar Ashram
Also known as Yogi Ramsuratkumar Ashram, it stands in honour of the Indian saint and mystic. Yogi Ramsuratkumar was born in Naradara, a small village in Utta Pradesh, in 1918. He graduated from the University of Allahabad and began to practice as a master.
An incident led him to travel to the south of India in search of answers regarding life and death, the “truth”. In 1959, Yogi Ramsuratkumar arrived in Tiruvannamalai where he spent the better part of his period of enlightenment. As more and more people recognized his divinity, the need for an ashram to receive and bless his followers became more evident. Yogi Ramsuratkumar Ashram was finally built and he died there in 2001 at the age of 82.
The practice of meditation and yoga in Tiruvannamalai is an unparalleled experience. This unique city offers the opportunity to experience the deepest silence and remain unburdened by external thoughts. Our accommodations will include a brightly-lit hall with incomparable views where every day Swamiji will impart his teachings to all of us as we practice yoga y meditation.
We will visit Arunachala as well as all of the temples and attractions. We will journey through history and experience the culture and traditions of this fascinating enclave. It is a magnificent opportunity to delve into spiritual practices and promote our inner and emotional growth thanks to the sacred and special energy of this place. This is a trip oriented to the body and the mind, an authentic spiritual experience.
