<p>The retreat will begin at 5pm on Thursday 2nd July 2026. We request that you arrive at 4pm to allow time for check in.</p>
<p>Sri Swami Purohit will give a welcome talk and the first session of the retreat before dinner is served, at 8.30pm.</p>
<p>On all other days the activities will start at 7am with a yoga session (no experience needed), before breakfast at 9am.</p>
<p>Sri Swami Purohit will continue his teachings from 12am to 2.30pm, with a short break mid morning.</p>
<p>Lunch will be served at 2.30pm after which students can enjoy some free time until 5pm, when teachings begin again until 8.30pm. There will also be a short break mid afternoon.</p>
<p>The retreat will finish after lunch on Sunday 5th July.</p>

<h3>WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT FROM THIS TRIP?</h3>
<p>Colours, aromas of spices, exotic flavours and, above all, spirituality. India is the birthplace of yoga and meditation and now the place to let yourself be carried away in wonder. Do you need answers? Do you crave serenity? On this trip you will reach your desired <strong>balance between body and spirit</strong>. It will be an authentic voyage toward inner peace.</p>
<p>In a life full of chaos, stress and anxiety, we suggest emptying the mind, freeing the space occupied by banalities and open a door so that only what really matters may enter. Distance yourself from all the noise, <strong>“reconnect” with yourself </strong>and return with a different perspective, with a new way of being and living.</p>
<p>Our stay will be in <a href="https://www.tiruvannamalai.tn.nic.in/">Tiruvannamalai</a>, one of the holiest cities in the state of <strong>Tamil Nadu</strong>, located in the south of India and at the foot of the majestic <strong>Arunachala </strong>hill. Roughly 800 metres high and with a pyramidal shape, the hill is considered a manifestation of <em>Lord Shiva</em>. Every full moon, thousands of pilgrims surround its base in a purification ritual as part of a magical ceremony known as <em>Girivalam</em>.</p>
<p>The Hindu temple of <a href="https://www.arunachaleswarartemple.tnhrce.in/">Arunachaleswarar</a>, one of the most spectacular in all of India, stands here in honour to the god. Lying over 10 hectares of surface area and with 9 magnificent towers, it is among the greatest temples in the world in its category. Nearby, at any time of year it is possible to see worshippers and <em>sadhus</em>, spiritual men or “monks who follow the path of penitence and austerity in order to reach enlightenment”.</p>
<p>A profound energy that permeates the city of <strong>Tiru</strong> has led to the creation of numerous <strong>ashrams</strong> which every year attract huge crowds of people from around the world as a part of their spiritual journey. With Sri Swami Purohit, “Swamiji”, we will have the chance to make daily visits to the ashrams. The main ones are:</p>
<p><strong><em>Sri Ramana Ashram</em></strong></p>
<p>Also known as <em>Sri Ramanasramam</em>, it was home to <a href="https://www.sriramanamaharshi.org/">Ramana Maharshi</a> from 1922 until his death in 1950 at the age of 70.</p>
<p>Sri Ramana is considered one of the most prominent spiritual masters of India and one of the most well-known and influential Hindu clergymen of the 20<sup>th</sup> century. His teachings focused on the <em>atma-vichara</em>, or “self-inquiry” of the soul. In this method, the individual focuses his or her attention on the “I-thought”, with the aim of finding his or her origin.</p>
<p>“What we find in the life and teachings of Sri Ramana is the purest essence of India…” “…they are not only important for the Hindu, but for the westerner as well. They are of great human interest, but are also a message of warning directed at humanity that risks losing itself in the chaos of its unconscious and its lack of control”. <em>Carl Gustav Jung</em>, Swiss psychiatrist and psychoanalyst.</p>
<p>The practice of <strong>meditation and</strong> <strong>yoga</strong> in <strong>Tiruvannamalai </strong>is an unparalleled experience. This unique city offers the opportunity to experience the deepest silence and remain unburdened by external thoughts. Our accommodations will include a brightly-lit <strong>hall</strong>with incomparable views where every day Swamiji will impart his teachings to all of us as we practice <strong>yoga y meditation</strong>.</p>
