WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT FROM THIS TRIP?
Colors, aroma of spices, exotic flavors and, above all, spirituality. India is the birthplace of yoga, meditation, and now the place to let yourself go, where you marvel. Do you need answers? Do you long for serenity? On this journey you will achieve the desired balance between body and spirit. It will be a true journey towards your inner peace.
In a life full of chaos, stress and anxiety, we propose to empty your mind, free that space occupied by banalities and open a door so that what really matters can enter. Get away from all that noise, “reconnect” with yourself and come back with a different perspective, with a new way of being and living.
The stay is in Tiruvannamalai, one of the most sacred cities in Tamil Nadu, located in southern India and at the foot of the majestic Mount Arunachala. Approximately 800 meters high and pyramidal in shape, this mountain is considered a manifestation of Lord Shiva. Every full moon thousands of pilgrims tour its base as a purifying ritual in a ceremony full of magic known as Girivalam.
In honor of this god, the Arunachaleswarar Hindu temple is built, one of the most spectacular in India and, with 10 hectares of surface and 9 grandiose towers, one of the largest in the world in its category. Next to him and at any time of the year it is possible to see devotees and sadhus, spiritual men or “monks who follow the path of penance and austerity to obtain enlightenment.”
In the city of Tiru there is a strong and deep energy. This has led to the creation of numerous ashrams to which multitudes of people from all over the world come every year as part of their spiritual journey. With Sri Swami Purohit, “Swamiji”, we will have the opportunity to visit one of these ashrams every day. The main ones are:
Sri Ramana Ashram
Also designated by the name of Sri Ramanasramam. Home of Ramana Maharshi from 1922 until his death in 1950 at the age of 70.
Sri Ramana is considered one of the most notable spiritual teachers of India and one of the best-known and most influential Hindu religious men of the 20th century. His teachings focused on atma-vichara, or “self-inquiry” of the soul. In this method the individual focuses his attention on the “I thought” in order to find the origin of it.
«What we find in the life and teachings of Sri Ramana is the purest essence of India…» «…they are not only important for the Hindu, but also for the Westerner. They not only make up a document of great human interest, but also a warning message, addressed to humanity that runs the risk of getting lost in the chaos of its unconsciousness and lack of control. Carl Gustav Jung, Swiss psychiatrist and psychologist.
Seshadri Swamigal Ashram
Consecrated to Sri Seshadri Swamigal, or “Saint with a golden hand”, in 2012. This ashram is located very close to Sri Ramanasramam.
At the age of 19, Seshadri met Sri Balaji Swamigal, a saint from northern India who taught him. He traveled through different places in Tamil Nadu until he ended up in Tiruvannamalai, where he stayed for 40 years. He dedicated his life and his teachings to emphasizing the glory of Arunachala. When Ramana Maharshi arrived in Tiruvannamalai seven years later, Seshadri Swamigal took care of him, protected him and revealed him to the world as a saint. He died in 1929.
Yogi Ram Surath Kumar Ashram
Also called Yogi Ramsuratkumar Ashram. Indian saint and mystic, Yogi Ramsuratkumar was born in Nardara, a small town in Uttar Pradesh, in 1918. He graduated from the University of Allahabad and worked as a teacher.
An incident took him to southern India in search of answers about life and death, the “truth.” In the year 1959, Yogi Ramsuratkumar arrived at Tiruvannamalai where he spent most of his enlightenment period. As more and more people recognized his divinity, the need for an ashram to receive and bless his devotees became more evident. The Yogi Ramsuratkumar Ashram was eventually built, and there he died in 2001 at age 82.
The practice of meditation and yoga is an unparalleled experience in Tiruvannamalai. It is a singular and unique city in terms of the possibility of experiencing the deepest silence there and thus remaining free of external thoughts. Our accommodation will have a bright room with incomparable views where Swamiji will teach his teachings daily to all of us. With him we will practice yoga and meditation every day.
We will visit Mount Arunachala as well as all the temples and sites of interest. We will go through history, learn about the culture and traditions of this fascinating enclave. It is a magnificent opportunity to delve deeper into spiritual practices, to encourage our inner or emotional growth thanks to the energy of a special and sacred place. This is an orient trip
